Employment and Disability – The People, Challenges and Opportunities
A FREE Seminar sponsored in part by a Grant from The PA Developmental Disabilities Council. Employer Focused Employment – the PA EMPLOYMENT Project is a multi-year, statewide initiative led by The Sierra Group Foundation and over 25 participating PA Business mentors.
This is the 18th PA Employment Project event that we've done and we are eager t feature one of our eminent Business Mentors, Mr. Michael Furman, SPHR, SHRM – SCP, Principal Consultant with HR ReSolve, with over 30 years of experience in building culturally inclusive work teams. Facilitating the discussion and presentation is The Sierra Group Foundation's President, Janet D. Fiore, a woman with a disability who is an award winning national authority on Disability and Employment in America.
Funded in part by the PA Developmental Disabilities Council, this presentation will provide practical tools and skills for companies looking to recruit, accommodate and hire MORE workers with disabilities. It will do so amongst a backdrop of information and audience discussion that is intended to also chip away at known and unknown societal attitudes that act as barriers to making our communities (including our workplaces) equally available to Pennsylvanians with Disabilities. Committed to broad and generic change, the Council's focus is to improve disability services by making them available in the context of the systems and supports that exist for all people.
In this training, Mentor Presenter Michael Furman and Facilitator Janet Fiore will engage the audience in interactive exercises including a chance to 'take the Stigma Quiz' that was developed by another Council grantee, Suasion.
We promise an experience that will radically change the way you perceive the concept of cultural diversity in a workplace that is fully inclusive of people with disabilities.
The Sierra Group, a nationally acclaimed workplace consultancy, is facilitating trainings designed to entice radical change in disability hiring practices. This training is one in a series of FREE events where employers will share and mentor other employers on how to deepen cultural awareness and recruitment of employees with Disabilities.
The PA Employment Project "Employer Focused Employment" tools and training programs are funded in part by a grant from the
PA Developmental Disabilities Council.
